I gave this read a 3star rating because I was disappointed that the read was not what I was anticipating. This was my first read by author Christina Phillips. It was not awful but not the high hopes that I had going for it. I believe if there were better transitions and leads into the next step things would have felt more cohesive. I felt confused and lost in a few place and the need to go and read the first two books of the series was overwhelming.

I found several places where I wanted to see the stand-up, spunky young lady, Ella, that was talked about during the book. It literally took her until the very last chapter of the book to grow a pair and say what she had to say. It was fess up or shut up and forever. 

I found Alex to be the typical male that had a problem and felt the only way to deal with it was to suffer in silence. He was traumatize as a teen and had seen much go on in his family life, but when the much need saving needed to be performed he blames himself for doing the right thing. It takes him twelve years and the confessions of his brothers to bring him into the here and now and the understanding that this was not his fault. 

I also found references and phrases to be off. I was not understanding them completely even after reading the sentence and in some instances the paragraph. I was confused on the location where things were taken place. 

I plan to give this series a chance there were things that caught my eye and made me want to see more, but it is not a precedent reading. 

I would recommend this read to someone that has followed this series. If you are new to the series I would advise that you begin from the beginning.
