Love conquers injustice.

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Tails and Whiskers (Midnight Rodeo, #6) . . .
A Flying Fox and a Siberian Tiger. Both shifters. Both working for the same rodeo circuit. Both looking for that someone to understand them and maybe even love them forever. The coming together will test the bonds of who they are and what they wish to become. There was more at stake than just their hearts and souls. Their very existence comes in to this battle.

Issac was the fox shifter with little to nothing for himself. He was little more than a slave to the greedy goblin that held his contract. I found him to be sweet, a little odd, and very much worth more than he was being given.  Dmitri was the tiger shifter that had a heart to match his strength. Injustice was not something he would abide by. He knew what was right and was willing to fight to the end to make it right.

I got a bit more suspense and intrigue with this installment of the Midnight Rodeo series.  This was an interspecies mix that could change things for more than just the two involved. This was a novella that put spicy and sweet together and made the serving very delicious to consume.

BLURB
Tiger shifter Dmitri loves his new home at Darque and Knight Rodeo, and he adores all of his new friends. His past as a circus animal remains strong in his memory, though, particularly when he sees inequality, like the hot little fox shifter who isn’t allowed on rodeo grounds unless he’s working.

When fox Isaac meets the handsome, burly tiger, the attraction is instant. He’d love to spend more time in Dmitri’s den, but as a contracted performer his access to the rodeo is limited. It doesn’t help that his greedy goblin boss refuses to loosen his grip.

Can Dmitri and Isaac find a way to be together, and to make a change for the better of everyone at D and K?

Dmitri wanted to go play. He started paddling toward the foxes, just easing over.
They were sharp-nosed and quick, almost a blur. Dmitri wanted to touch them, catch one in his hand and see if they felt as electric as they appeared.
He watched as they played together, the energy never faltering, never even hiccupping. He sank under the water a little more, floating close enough to see bright golden eyes and shocks of red hair. One wee fox man was braver than the others, floating closer, meeting his eyes.
What a warm, inviting man, all bright green eyes and twitching nose. Dmitri rose up to the surface, smiling. “Dobryy den, little one.”
“Mmm. Hello. You’re amazing.” The fox’s voice lilted, just like a song, dancing on his eardrums.
“Am I?” Dmitri peered down at his fuzzy chest, which was gray-and-black striped just like his tiger.
“Uh-huh. You’re a tiger, huh? Lots of stripes and teeth.”
“I am. And you are a fox?” He’d never met a fox shifter before.
“I am. I work the trick ponies. We’re acrobats.” The little fox glanced over at the kitties, who were beginning to gather behind Dmitri. “I should go. It was nice to meet you. You’re beautiful.”
“Come see me at the food tents.” Dmitri wanted to see this one again, hear his laugh. “I cook good.”
“Oh. I can’t. We’re not allowed in the gates without a ticket. Thank you, though!” The little one moved away, keeping a good distance between him and the pride, which moved in.
Dmitri frowned. That wasn’t fair. If they performed for the rodeo, the foxes should get to eat.
“Dmitri, come on. Come play.” Serena tugged at his hand, her lynx right at the surface. “Before everyone gets grumpy.”
“Why would they?” He let her pull him back to the other cats.
“They’re… they’re prey more than anything. They live on the outside. You can’t trust the skulks.”
“The skulks?” Dmitri frowned at Selena. “That is vermin, yes? That is not nice.”
“Sorry, but aren’t they? They’re not… they’re not ours, right?” The youngling looked unsure, worried.
Dmitri shook his head, smiling for her to ease her worry. “We are all in this together. We should have—how you say? Have each other.”
“Each other’s backs,” Denver corrected.
“Right. Each other’s backs.” He grinned at Denver. “You know this, yes?”
“Hey, man. I’m in the ‘be good to me, I’ll be good to you’ camp. Life’s too short for bullshit when there’s happy to be had.”
Yes. Yes, he did love how his friend Denny held himself open. They faced persecution and suspicion from the outside world. Why bring it inside, too?
Potts looked over, nose wrinkling. “So, why the rule about them not coming in then, eh? Why aren’t they welcome? Big boss bring it down?”
Denny shrugged. “I guess? Peter more than Cody, I would wager.”
“Denver isn’t the biggest rule guy ever.” Blaine peered over Denver’s shoulder, eyes twinkling.
Denver chuckled. “What can I say? You need tickets you just say.”
Dmitri’s eyes lit up. “Yes? I would like to see the little fox for a minute.”
Denver nodded and offered him a wild grin. Denver was happy, and he wished to make others that way, as well. It was one of Denver’s many good points.
Dmitri glanced at the foxes, cavorting on the other side of the water. He wanted to know their good points. Especially the brave one.

Virtual Tour - Welcome To the Pack (Midnight Rodeo Book, 1#) BA Tortuga

Welcome to the Pack
Midnight Rodeo, #1
by BA Tortuga
Date of Publication:  September 1st 2016
Publisher: All Romance eBooks
Cover Artist: Erin Dameron Hill
Genre: Gay Shifter Romance

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Welcome to the Pack (Midnight Rodeo, #1) . . .
Quickie rodeo driven cowboys with supernatural abilities and a little tiff amongst the natives. When twin to the now deceased alpha returns to his pack and the supernatural rodeo things are not all a bed or two of roses for him. Denton died at the hands/horns of a demon bull. The pack has lost their alpha and the next in line, Denver, has not been around for over fifty years.

The pack was not the only ones that lost someone. Blaine lost his best friend. Not knowing where he stands in the pack makes for a difficult time for him. Denver had returned with not such a warm welcome at his hands. Denver and Blaine had a connection that was hot and intense.

For a short this was written nicely and had deliciously hot hunks. With more development and bit more side play this would make a novel instead of a novella. It would also allow for more depth and insight to the Midnight Rodeo.

BLURB
He lost his twin, but he intends to keep his pack.

When head bullfighter Denton is killed by a demon bull, his twin, Denver, comes back to take his place. Denver was gone for years, working mundane rodeos and missing his twin. He’s not sure the pack can heal him since the other bullfighters challenge Denver at every turn. All except Blaine, who’s an outcast himself, and who knows Denver is like no one he’s ever met.

Denver was—wow.
Denton had been stunning, making Blaine stare a lot. A lot. Still, Dent had been off-limits, and he’d bet Denver was, too. No one could be that hot and be like Blaine.
He was the weird one, the one brought into the pack by a she-wolf who had already had a single pup. Blaine figured he was lucky no one had killed him when he was a kid.
Everyone else was broad and wide, shaggy-headed with eyes like green glass. All of them came from the same line. Denver was the spitting image of Denton, really. A little harder around the edges, a little more wild. A shit ton more bruised.
The guys had been taking turns. Two a night, just like clockwork, they’d come and challenge Denver. One at midnight, one at three a.m. Greg and Vince went, then Carter and Caul, and finally Hank and Mike. Boom.
He supposed Denver was waiting for him now. Blaine sighed. He had no intention of trying to take the pack. God, the very idea made his head hurt.
The real question was, were they going to just start over, or was Denver going to get a night off, a chance to sleep before they settled in town for tonight’s show?
Eventually they’d kill Denver, too. Someone would get lucky, and the Alpha would get tired. Then where would they be? None of the others were really natural leaders.
Blaine glanced away to make sure no one else was about. When he looked back at Denver, the man was staring back at him. Damn. Caught.
One eye was black, damn near swollen shut, but the other watched him like a hawk.
He didn’t turn tail like he wanted to, and he fought down a nervous smile, managing a nod instead. Then he grabbed his proverbial bootstraps and pulled his courage up out of his socks.
“Hey. You need anything, man? I was gonna go get a hamburger.”
“Thank you, no.” Denver’s head tilted, the look pure Denton down to a T. “Is it your turn tonight? Seems like a shitty deal, to be left to fight on your own.”
“Well, I never did pair up.” He shrugged. “I don’t want your job. If that means I ain’t good enough to work with you, I’ll fight. But if you can handle that, I’ll have your back.”
“You were good enough for Dent; you’re good enough for me.”
“Thanks.” Relief flowed through him. Acceptance wasn’t always easy when you were different. Wolves could turn on anyone with weird eyes or a bad leg. Or not-pack blood. “Well. You sure you don’t want some food?”
“Honey, I appreciate it, but they’ll turn on you. It’s how it works. ’Sides, my jaw’s tender.” He got a half grin, and he didn’t get it. Denver was supposed to be, like, this violent, leather-wearing biker asshole. Not a guy who grinned.
“Shit, they always called me Dent’s whipping boy. They let me stay because I’m fast and stronger than I look. I have a way with the stock.”
“Yeah? I need to learn them. I’ll buy food, you tell me about them. All of them. I’ve been working mundane shows.”
“Oh, then you’re in for a whole new world.” Even the regular bulls were genetically engineered these days so hardly anyone could stay on them, but their show? Holy-shit-moly.
“I worked the show under Elvin.”
Whoa. Elvin had trained Dent, too. The man was a legend. Dead, but a legend. Sort of like Dent.
“You’ll do all right, then, but there are a few to watch out for.” He would be happy to be the one to fill in Denver on their big beasts.
Denver walked with him, solid and quiet. Still.
Blaine felt the urge to babble, which he never did. He was the quiet one, for fuck’s sake. He knew to keep his fucking head down and stay under the fucking radar.
“Huh?” He’d been so busy keeping his head down, he’d missed what Denver had asked. Smooth.
“I just asked which ones you like best, the burgers.”
“Oh, the double bacon cowboy burger.” His mouth watered at the name.
“What makes it a cowboy burger?”
“Barbecue sauce and fried onions.” He loved that sweet and sour and crispy bacon goodness. His belly rumbled. He was so damned hungry. He’d never admit it to Denver, but half the reason he wanted to eat with the man was that the pack had been, uh, denying him some resources.
Speaking of, Mike came around the corner, snarling. “What are you doing with him, Stubby?”
God, he hated that fucking nickname.
Before he could answer, Denver growled, the sound raising his hackles. “Are you questioning me, pup?”
Mike stared, belligerent as all hell, but his bruises told the story. Denver had beat him down. Mike finally looked away. “No, sir.”
“I didn’t think so.” Denver watched until Mike left, then they kept walking.
“That was amazing.” Blaine could fight. God knew he could take a hit from two thousand pounds of pissed-off beef on the hoof and keep going. But he’d never seen Mikey back off that fast, not even from Dent.
“So, Stubby? Seriously? Doesn’t seem to suit.”
His cheeks heated, and Blaine put his hands in his pockets. “I hate it.”
“Good to know.” Laconic didn’t begin to describe this man. Getting words out was like pulling teeth.
“Yeah. I mean, that way you can only use it when you want to piss me off.”
“That’s fair. You work the final night?”
“I do.” No one could deny he had a way with Bricklayer. That damned bull was always a top draw, and he was mean as a snake.
“Good.” Somehow the single word felt like a stamp of approval.

Spotlight - Claiming Their Mate (Two Is Never Enough, #2) by B.A. Tortuga

Claiming Their Mate
Two Is Never Enough, #2
by B.A. Tortuga
Date of Publication:  September 1st 2016
Publisher: All Romance eBooks

Genre: Gay Shifter Romance

From The Book Junkie Reads . . . Claiming Their Mate (Two Is Never Enough, #2) . . .
Hot. Hot. Hot. Not just one sexy, hot, delicious male but three of them. Okay so they are not centered around me but the heat and attraction was there nonetheless. Chemistry raw and powerful brought the three to the point that clothing and inhibitions just flew away. The heat index was decimated by the intensity of the hotness between them.

Two hotties, Samson and Dane, are already a unit. Then they come across their chosen, Ryan. That makes them three if they can convince/seduce the other into the lure of all they have to offer and what they could all become. There was not much drama if any, but the unions between them were erotic pleasure for the mind.

The second book of the series and not reading the first did not affect the read for me. I was able to navigate just fine.

Two Is Never Enough series:

BLURB
He’s here on vacation. They’re here for him.

Samson and Dane are werewolves who act as guardians of their pack. They're also lovers, but they both long for the third person they know will make their home whole. Their Chosen.

Ryan has no idea he's even a werewolf. He's visiting rural New Mexico and Colorado to write horror novels, not get it on with the two hottest men he's ever met. So why can't he keep his hands off them, and why is biting suddenly so hot? Can Samson and Dane convince Ryan that he's like them, and that he needs to leave his city life behind?

The pup slipped out of bed late in the night. They’d all slept like they’d been on a hunt, which he guessed lots of Mexican food and sex could simulate. In fact, Dane slept on, not even snuffling when the pressure of Ryan’s body left the mattress.
Samson, now, he wasn’t a deep sleeper, and he knew when someone was trying to make like coyote ugly and not wake him so they could slip away.
That simply didn’t work for him.
He reached out and wrapped one hand around a lean hip. “Where you going?” Samson murmured.
Ryan jumped like he’d been popped with a rubber band in the balls. “I missed my real estate appointment.”
“Well, it’s not like you can call your agent at this time of night, honey.”
“No. No, I guess not.” Ryan stood there, pale in the streetlight filtering in from outside.
Samson loved how Ryan was different, like a marble statue, but warm, alive. He had to wonder if the wolf was pale, too, thin.
“How do you look in your other life?” he asked.
“Like a writer, I guess? I just have a place in Dallas. I’m blocked, so I came out here.”
“Blocked how?” Was it too cold out there on the porch for a guy from Dallas? Samson grabbed an extra blanket and took Ryan outside with him, the pup following easily when he tugged.
“Like writer’s block? I’d been working on a series and I’ve written myself into a hole. I don’t even want to write zombies anymore. It’s silly nonsense, really, but I thought if I came out to the boonies and learned all I could about something new the plot would come to me. I mean, I told my agent I was writing martians, but really, I need to finish the series.”
“Zombies.” Samson blinked, then chuckled, pulling Ryan down with him on the big swing dealie and wrapping them in the blanket. It felt natural as breathing, just like touching Dane always did. Poor Dane. Two orgasms and the guy was out like the proverbial light.
“Yeah. They’re in right now.” Ryan’s nostrils flared and he knew the pup was scenting him, learning him. Exceptional instincts. Samson approved.
“Hmm. I think you ought to add in werewolves.” What would Ryan say to that? Could be really be completely unaware of what was inside him? Samson knew the wolf was in there.
Their alpha, Bruce, was going to give them no end of shit, both sets of his guardians ending up with dormant Omegas. What were the chances?
“Werewolves? They’re almost as done as vampires. Shame, though. I love the trappings of the genre, really.”
“What’s your favorite part?” This was fascinating. It was like seeing himself through someone else’s eyes for the first time. Seeing a werewolf movie with someone who didn’t watch horror…
“The whole animalistic versus human situation. It’s a turn on, just like the whole biting thing in the vampire world.”
“I like biting. So does Dane.” Samson nibbled at the nape of Ryan’s neck.
“Uhn.” Ryan shuddered for him, the entire motion pure sex. “Does he?”
“Mmmhmm. Oh, he’ll tell you he’d rather do the biting and scold for being bitten, but he catches and pitches, if you get me.” Dane could fight like a stone cold motherfucker, but he could bottom like a hot little slut, too.
It all worked for him.
“How long have you two been together?”
Samson pondered that. “Well, we’ve known each other since infancy, I guess.”
“Oh, wow. No shit? That’s cool, huh?”
“Yeah. Sometimes it’s annoying as hell.” Samson chuffed out a laugh. “I adore the fucker, though.”
“Well, good. You two pick up strangers a lot?”
“No.” He tilted back Ryan’s head so he could look into those pretty eyes. “No, we don’t.”
“No?” The blue in Ryan’s eyes were a perfect match for the streaks in the mussed hair, and the combination of looks served to make Ryan looked so young.
“No. You were different right away. We knew you were there before we ever stepped inside.”
Ryan chuckled softly, shook his head. “That’s impossible.”
“No it’s not, honey.” He stroked that flat belly, tugging the heavy ring that pierced Ryan’s cock and Ryan moaned, ass pushing back against him.
“That’s it. Feel it. We’re connected. All of us.”
“God, that...that feels like magic.”
“I love your skin. So smooth.”
“I wax, remember?”
He blinked. Seriously? Ow. Potential for a guy that didn’t mind a little sting, but… Ow. His balls tried to crawl up in his body.
