Shannon Walsh & Will Halsted
Blurb:
A tough-as-nails businesswoman (Shannon Walsh). An arrogant Navy SEAL (Will Halsted). A power struggle with no end in sight.
Some people hook-up at weddings. Others break a hotel room bed (and a table, and a desk, and some complimentary bathrobe belts) and discover they've been surviving on bargain basement orgasms their entire lives.
The last one? Yeah. That's all me.
She's driven and demanding…
I wasn't always a bitch. There's a dirty little trick to succeeding in business: the sweet and innocent rarely survive. I fought my way up from nothing, and I don't bend for anyone.
Until Will Halsted ties me to a headboard and makes me his…for now.
One wild, filthy night turns into another, and then...we can't stop. Each time we're together is more addictive than the last, but it's nothing more than a sexy escape from reality.
Or is it?
He's never walked away from a challenge…
I wasn't always a warrior but now it's in my bones and blood. That's what years spent in the Special Forces does to a man. My entire life is classified: where I've been, what I've seen, what I've done, and there's no mission too dangerous.
Until I realize that falling for Shannon Walsh is like trying to swim against a riptide. She's going to tear me up and toss me to the shore, and I'll love every minute of it.
Every time I'm down range, I want her counting the hours until I'm back. Waiting for me. She's done it before; she'll do it again.
Or will she?
They're wrong for each other in every possible way…
Or are they?
Review:
To start off if this is you first read of Kate Canterbary be prepared to be enthralled. This is not you run of the mill author that decided to write a book and put it out there. She has some skills in weaving a story with intriguing characters, interesting places, and scenes to make your toes curl and see explosions all over the place. This is a series that has earned a 5star rating from me with each of the four books in this series. With this said let me proceed to the review of 'The Cornerstone'.
I'm a person that loves to read and finding new authors to wrap myself around and get engrossed in their works of fiction makes me very, very happy. I love finding work that makes me cry, laugh, smile, and feel confused. I want an author that will have me questioning the decisions made and then enjoy finding out the reason behind those decisions. Kate Canterbary has made me a lifetime reading of her work with this series. From book one that I literally began the same week that I got the fourth book in this series all the way up to this fourth book. I am impressed and can feel it all in the way she writes and the way the words work themselves around the page and into my soul.
My expectations for this fourth installment in the Walsh series has been blown out of the water with the actual book itself. I felt every up and down. Every decision made and missed on Shannon's part. I could live her warring within herself to do the right thing and then to do the me thing for herself. She is a very strong woman that carries the weight of her entire family on her shoulders. Will helps her to bare some of that burden and release some of the tension gathering within. The Walsh has much to offer and more to receive.
The words on the page come to life and make you feel more than you may want to feel and experience even more. Canterbary has made this series one to read again and again. The next question will be when will the next book be coming. If you don't know now is the time to get in the know. Read the Walsh series for the very creative mind of Kate Canterbary.
****This ARC read and review was provided in exchange for an honest review. ****
Kate Canterbary: She doesn't have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean--Pacific or Atlantic--is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people—be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane—ever since. Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn't writing sexy architects, she's scheduling her days around the region's best food trucks.
