Now talking about kicking a puppy when its down and out possibly on life support.  Darian King was a completed and total jerk of the first class. He stayed that way all the way to the end of the read. Allison was in simpler terms the kicked puppy. Darian repeatedly pushed, shoved, berated the woman. Yet, yes she still loved him. This was one down to the bone stubborn man. He literally did not realize what he had until she was just done and gone.

This was just a few of the things that made the read gripping. I was just waiting for him to figure out that he did love Allison and that he did indeed need her. But that wait went all the way to the end of the read. I felt her pain and angst of loving a man that could not or would not acknowledge that he did indeed have some feelings. It did not have to be love but he did care.

Davies roped you in and pulled you along. Darian king met every point in the blurb. All the way to the end and realization came over him.  You will keep reading just to find out how the brick wall hit him and just how hard.

BLURB
Darian King has never met a challenge he couldn’t handle. Running a billion-dollar corporation? Piece of cake. Hostile takeovers? A walk in the park. But when his little sister begs him to plan her wedding, Darian finds himself less than prepared for the task. Luckily, he knows just who to ask for help.

Allison Reed wants nothing more than to leave King Enterprises behind. Being the personal assistant to a man like Darian is a 24/7 job. Asking her to help plan a wedding is simply the icing on the stress-filled cake but to leave she needs a glowing reference and will do anything to get it. Even plan a wedding with the man of her dreams.

Stepping outside the office has unexpected consequences. Darian doesn’t believe in relationships, yet he’s starting to see Allison in a whole new light. But he doesn’t know her secret, and she fears that by the time the vows are exchanged, she won’t just be leaving her job behind but her heart as well.

EXCERPT
“Come in,” he called when she knocked.
Allison stepped into the room, closing the door behind her.
His head was tipped back against his chair as he stared at the ceiling.
“Am I interrupting?”
Her voice brought his attention to her, and the smile she received had her heart fluttering again.
“Not at all. I was just thinking.”
“Slow day?”
“Haven’t had one of those in a while, eh?” He tapped a file on his desk. “I was going to call Bill about these figures when I remembered he’s on vacation till next week.”
“Then you’ve got some time.” She moved to the side of his desk.
“Something like that.” His eyes dropped to the page in her hand. “What can I do for you?”
So many things. She cleared her throat and pushed the thought back. They were at the office. Innocent thoughts only.
“I thought I should check Sam’s quote with you.”
His brows rose in surprise as he reached for the paper.
“You know I trust you with these details.”
She leaned a hip against his desk as he skimmed over the figures.
“You did well. Sounds like an excellent deal to me.” He held the paper back out to her.
“Oh, good.”
When she didn’t reach for the paper, a smile tugged at his lips. “Or was there something else you wanted?”
“I’m having a slow day, too.”
The smile deepened. “And?”
“And…” She huffed out a breath. “I don’t know. I wanted to see you. Is that against the rules?”
He studied her for a long moment before tipping his head. “Yes.”
Pain stabbed into her chest. This had been a silly mistake. She knew very well what boundaries he’d set.
“Sorry, I’ll—”
He held up his hand to silence her. Gesturing for her to stay where she was, he walked to his door and turned the lock.
“It’s against the rules,” he said as he sauntered back toward her. “At work we need to focus on business. Outside the office we can play.”
“I get that. I just…”
He stopped in front of her. “Just what?”
She shrugged. “Missed you.”
“Dammit.”
Before she could say another word he hauled her into his arms.

Author Info
Victoria Davies’s passion for writing started young. Luckily she had a family who encouraged believing in magic and embracing imagination. From stories quickly scribbled in diaries, her love of storytelling developed. Since then her characters may have evolved and her plots may have grown decidedly more steamy but she never lost her love of the written word. Writing is not only a way to silence the wonderful voices in her head, but it also allows her to share her passions with her readers.Currently she writes from Toronto, Canada. While she has a healthy love for the unknown, this corner of the world will always be her home.
