MY INTERVIEW WITH L.M. PRUITT
How would you describe you style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
--I’d call it dry and sarcastic and humorous with some very, very sexy parts.
What mindset or routine do you feel the need to set when preparing to write (in general whether you are working on a project or just free writing)?
--I don’t really have a routine, per se. I write in the quiet, with television playing in the background, with music playing, in a coffee shop, in a bar… I write where I write.
Do you take your character prep to heart? Do you nurture the growth of each character all the way through to the page? Do you people watch to help with development? Or do you build upon your character during story creation?
--I tend to write organically, in the sense that while I may plan certain traits and quirks, the majority of character development happens in response to plot points. Every character reacts to the same event differently, which in turn informs the rest of the book and their own development. I’ve found if I try and plan out too far, I wind up going off track anyway, so I just… let it happen.
Have you found yourself bonding with any particular character? If so which one(s)?
--I say quite frequently that Joanne is the character most like myself. We share a lot of similarities and a lot of quirks and definitely the same sense of sarcasm.
Do you have a character that you have been working on that you can't wait to put to paper?
--I do, but I can’t really say who, because it might ruin a surprise I have in the works.

From
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Burden (Lucy, #1) . . .
This new trilogy starts off with a bang. Think to have your life all planned out and then to die. I mean just die, but still have so much to accomplish. Lucinda (Lucy) Anne Bennet was not wanting to follow the norm or dictates of family and society. She wanted to concentrate on her career. Until the choice was taken out of her hands. Do you believe there is something more after death?
And ended with wow. . . let me just say that by the end I was wanting to know so much more. I wanted to see where this all started. How happy was I to find that I could get the first nine books of the original series Winged for $.99 in a box set. I look forward to the next book so i can see where it all go. Lucy, Gabriel, Joanne, Michael, Barry, Raphael, and so many other. In the mean time, I will enjoy the first nine.

All my life, I've had
plans.Lucinda Anne Bennet
Dying the day before
beginning the final year of my surgical residency wasn't one of them.
Finding myself drafted
in the eternal war between good and evil wasn't one of them, either.
And dealing with
friends, enemies, and lovers I don't remember?
Definitely not in my
plans.

The problem with
plans?
Even the best ones can go awry. And when they
do... all hell breaks loose.
If I've learned only
one thing in the last few months, it's the past never dies.
Four plagues down. Six
more to come.
We need more than a
plan.
We need a miracle.

The problem with
miracles?
They require a deity
who cares.
And if you don't have
one of those... you need a sacrifice.
Or the world ends
