Another fun and sexy romance in Megan’s Dukes Behaving Badly series!
When does proper behavior deserve a deliciously improper reward?
The scandalously unmarried Lady Margaret Sawford is looking for adventure-and is always up for a challenge. Her curiosity is aroused by a dangerous-looking stranger with an eye patch, an ideal companion for the life she longs for, no matter what Society might say. So when the piratical gentleman turns out to be a duke-and just as boringly proper as any other nobleman-she can’t help but incite him to walk on the wild side.
Well-heeled, well-mannered, and well beyond any interest in society’s expectations, the Duke of Lasham is tired of being perfect. Margaret’s lush beauty and gently laughing eyes are an irresistible temptation to embrace the imperfect-and her. But if a little misbehavior is appealing, unleashing his wild side is completely seductive-as long as the lovely Margaret is the object of his passion…
This I must say is my first read in this series from Megan Frampton. I also must say that I do not know where my mind has been these past years of this series. I love Historical/Regency Romance and cannot fathom where on Earth my brain has been all this time. I am a serious lover of Dukes and love even more a duke behaving badly, but the Duke of Lasham is a little stayed in his action and need to learn to behave badly. I gave this desperate to be wild Duke a 4star Historical Scandal rating.
Lady Margaret Sawford is most certainly a lady in the general sense but there is much more to this supposedly on the shelf spinster. She has taken control of her life and has done something more with it than a simple lady of the times. She can hold her own with the best of them and still make time for the little things in life, like writing and help the less fortunate. She has a friend in her lady’s maid, Anne, and a mother all in one.
The Duke of Lasham has the opposite issue. He is a duke that does not know how to behave badly. For him his stayed existence as the proper, perfect Duke has run its course and now it is now time for the bad Duke to be unveiled. There is just one problem. This Duke has no clue how to go about it. In comes Jamie, his best friend. Jamie is more than just his friend. He is the comedy needed to make this just that much better.
I found this to be a historical read to keep on the shelves and read again. I enjoyed it so much that I made sure to acquire the rest of the books/novellas in the series.
Another not of enjoyment was the way each chapter would begin with a side story that mirrors the actual story. This was a reminded for me of Eloise James and the way she would starts some of her chapters with little side story. Each of which I have very much grown to love over the years. Now, I have another author that puts the joy in reading with a parallel story. Each pushing you to want to see what happens next. Frampton’s story ‘Georgiana and the Dragon’, in this case written by the heroine, is entertaining and captivating.
