Lady Clara, the fan-favorite character from Loretta Chase’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Dressmakers series, finally gets her own happily ever after!

Convenient marriages are rarely so…exciting. Can society’s most adored heiress and London’s most difficult bachelor fall victim to their own unruly desires?

Biweekly marriage proposals from men who can’t see beyond her (admittedly breathtaking) looks are starting to get on Lady Clara Fairfax’s nerves. Desperate to be something more than ornamental, she escapes to her favorite charity. When a child goes missing, she turns to Oliver Radford—a handsome, brilliant, excessively conceited barrister.

Having unexpectedly found himself in line to inherit a dukedom, Radford needs a bride who can navigate the Society he’s never been part of. If he can find one without having to set foot in a ballroom, so much the better. Clara—blonde, blue-eyed, and he must admit, not entirely bereft of brains—will do. As long as he can woo her, wed her—and not, like every other sapskull in London, lose his head over her…

Intellectual adventure in this historical England.

I had an adventure into the intellectual banter that takes place between a man and a woman of like minds. There was much here for me to enjoy and eagerly turn the page for the next encounter. I gave 4stars for this witty, intellectual repertoire between two individuals.

Oliver Radford has been forever know as the Raven and in other circles the Professor. His antics have him sent in a profession that hs allowed his vast intellect to grow and be nurtured. At every turn he finds something that needs to be solved or righted.

Lady Clara is an beautiful/intelligent bird trapped in her gilded cage of society because she is a woman stuck in the 1800s and noble rankings. She is stuck feeling like the pretty picture no one can touch but wants to possess.

As the two re-enter into each others lives, their roads bend and curve in unison with slight variations here and there. You can bet that since this is the a historical romance there are some turns that one would not expect. There is a raid, sickness, stubborn parents, carefree friends, strength, determination, exasperation, and much more. There lives and background may put one off from falling in love with them but there desire to make things right and their intellect they take with them makes them a couple to enjoy.

Loretta Chase has given in to a sumptuous intelligent rendering of love and connection with a dash of adventure and history.

Here is another read that I would recommend you grab your favorite blanket, a warm corner, a mug of a hot drink, and don't forget you book/e-reader and dive right in for historical intellectual adventure in the the series 'The Dressmakers'. I would recommend that if you have not had the chance to get the rest of the series and just dive right in these dressmakers certainly make fashion more vibrant.
